In BC, you do not need a driver's licence, vehicle licence, or motor vehicle insurance to ride an electric bike or electric scooter on the road.
The electric bike or electric scooter must be 500 Watts or less and have a limited speed of 32 kph.
For all practical purposes, these vehicles are considered bicycles and are regulated accordingly.
Electric bikes and electric scooters are often a viable means of transportation for persons who may have had a suspension of their driver's license and still need a means of independent transportation.
