Although, on the face of it, the Scrap- It program only seems of interest to people wanting to trade their older car for a newer car, there is much more to it than that. The Scrap It Program is a fantastic green initiative introduced by the BC Liberal Government under Premier Gordon Campbell to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The basic premise is that we know that older vehicles produce more harmful emissions in both the areas of smog and GHG's. One of the best things that can be done to lessen the harmful effects is to lessen the emissions by renewing the vehicle fleet to newer technologies AND TO GET PEOPLE INTO OTHER, MORE ECO FRIENDLY, MODES OF TRANSPORTATION!
